Newbottle & Charlton School Newsletter

I felt it important, as the catchment school for Aynho, that I begin toregularly write in your local newsletter, sharing what we are up to. Newbottle and Charlton School CEVA Primary School currently has 103 children on roll, has an Ofsted rating of Good and a Church (SIAM’s) inspection grade of Outstanding. We have a number of children from Aynho at our school and we have the bus service which serves the children and families to allow them to get to school if needed. If you want to learn more about the school then please do look at our website – www.newbottleandcharlton.co.uk

The snow was an unexpected extra to our timetable a few weeks ago and I took the difficult decision to remain open. However, we had a fabulous day in the snow and children had snowmen competitions and enjoyed being altogether playing in the fresh white snow on our field.

New learning has begun in classes following our whole school topic of Pantomime and children have started to look ‘Through the keyhole’ in Oak and Ash (our youngest children) where they are learning about Roald Dahl and all his characters and books as well as him as an author. In Elm their learning is all about water – Water of Life – and this is very much a geographical and science based topic. Finally, children in Birch (our oldest children) are looking at Early Civilizations. They are going to embark on a trip the British Museum very soon to help with their learning.

We have remained busy on the sporting and music front too. We have taken part in a Squash taster, Gymnastics competition and also our Basketball team won a recent competition in Northampton. In music the choir have reached the final of Banbury Young musician of the year, along with Christiana, a talented violinist.

Finally, we have our Spring/Easter community tea on Thursday 4th April at 2pm which you are all welcome to join us for – please let the office know if you can attend.
