NCC PROPOSAL TO REMOVE BUS SUBSIDIES TO ROUTE 499

Background

NCC are currently reviewing the budget for 2018/19 onwards.  They are under severe pressure to find the resources for Adult and Children’s Social Care, for which they have a statutory obligation.  As part of potential savings measures they are proposing to remove the subsidies for a number of bus routes.

This will include the subsidy to the number 499 bus that runs through the village.  The removal of the subsidy does not necessarily mean the removal of the bus service but it is likely to have an impact on the commercial viability of the route.

The review of bus subsidies is only part of a wider review affecting all aspects of NCC’s budget.

If you want more details you can visit the NCC website here.

Opportunity to have your say

NCC have provided an opportunity for residents and organisations to comment on the proposals which have to be made by 1st December 2017.  Aynho PC will be responding to this consultation to provide a Parish viewpoint.  However, if you are particularly affected by these proposals or feel strongly about them you can make your voice heard in one of three ways:

  • By sending an email to: consult@northamptonshire.gov.uk
  • To fill in an online survey   (Please note: the online survey includes all aspects of the consultation but you can skip to the parts you feel are relevant)
  • By writing to:

Draft Budget and Council Plan Consultation,

Northamptonshire County Council,

One Angel Square, Northampton,

NN1 1ED.
