Recorded Music Society June 2019

I went as a guest last week to ARMS and when there were only 5 or 6 people
present I groaned inwardly and hoped it would not last long. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Once it started Bob Mann introduced a series of classical pieces, some I have never heard, but others I knew well. He gave brief, often amusing, and always accessible introductions and then they were played on superb equipment. Beethoven, Mozart, Tchaikovsky were familiar, but Delius and Rubenstein less so.

A glass of wine at the interval was followed by some familiar “Phantom of the Opera” numbers and finished fittingly with “Sweet Dreams” by Patsy Kline.”….. I cannot wait for the next meeting.

I hope to see more people there to enjoy it next time.” Keith McClellan
