Aynho Long Walk 8th December 2016

We combined with the medium walkers today so nineteen of us set off down Green Lane in very threatening weather. Although the lane is much less muddy than it used to be it is still quite slippery in places. WE crossed the valley to the Cherry Tree Lane by which time it was raining. At the lay-by a District Council van was parked. The driver sheltered in the cab and played his ukulele. We crossed the B4100 and took the bridleway round to Station Road. It had stopped raining as we continued down Millers Lane and took the path along the wall along the border of Lower Aynho Grounds. We were well spread out by now but crossed the stile and walked up the field to the lane into Souldern. The village was very quiet as we passed through and turned down towards the church. The path past the sewage works continued on to the Portway path and back to the pavilion. Coffee in the warm and dry awaited us.
