Aynho Long Walk: 7th April 2016

We met in the sort of light rain that soaks you after a time without ever appearing to be very heavy. Fortunately we were in a following wind as we walked along the ridge towards Rainsborough Camp. There were thirteen of us this week and two dogs. We passed below the camp and out through Camp Farm buildings, crossed the Charlton Road before continuing along the track to the back road to Croughton. The wind had dropped a little as we crossed the fields to Croughton village and walked down past the school and across to the church yard where the work on roof restoration was almost complete. The return across the field and the wooded path to Croughton Mill, and then over the ford took us to the path among the horses. They showed great interest in us, but the electric fence kept them back. From there we crossed into the Warren Farm field and down through their woods to Upper Aynho Grounds. No events on today as we passed down the drive and crossed the B4100 without incident. The field at the bottom of Portway was still very watery and the mud thick as we took the path on the final lap to the Pavilion where free biscuits were available to celebrate the 5 star award by the hygiene authority. 6.5 miles
