Aynho Long Walk: 3rd March 2016

We welcomed Tracey, an experienced Rambler, who joined us today. Thirteen of us set off in short-lived sunshine over to Rainsborough Camp. WE continued through Camp Farm across the Charlton Road and round to the lane down to Croughton. We left the lane and followed the path across the fields into Croughton Village. Once we had passed the school we crossed the road and cut through the churchyard onto the track to the South of the village. from there we walked through to Mill lane crossed the ford and took the fields up to Warren Farm. Only one lonely horse there today We were soon in the woods leading down to the lakes at Upper Aynho Grounds, but stuck to the path and climbed to the yard and the Great Barn. We paused at the B4100 as it is a dangerous crossing. We crossed the road with care and continued to the Portway path, traversed the mud and climbed back up to the village. We gathered in admiration of Kay’s cakes and enjoyed our teas coffees and lunches. 6.4 miles.
