National Day of Reflection Tuesday 23rd March

We are supporting the National Day of Reflection on 23 March, the first anniversary of the UK lockdown, to commemorate this tragic loss of life and to stand together with everyone who is grieving.

So many people have now died – each one missed by partners, friends, family, neighbours and colleagues. We will join in the coming together in our communities and as a nation, to reflect on our collective loss, reach out and show the millions who are grieving they are not alone.

Candles, prayers, reflection and reminders will be available and accessible for everyone who wants in the village on the National day of Reflection on Tuesday.

St Michael’s Church will be open all day from 9.30am to 8.15pm as a focus for private reflection – candles will be lit all day, prayers will be said or read, whilst the Minute’s silence will be kept at Noon and the bell will toll for 15 minutes.

Please bring the names of anyone who you would like to be remembered in the prayers – those who have died, those who are grieving, or those affected in any way.  Please light a candle for each and every one and enjoy a moment of peace in the Church as you reflect – alone or together. (Please wear your face covering as others may be present.)

At particular times in the day we will lead some prayers around the candles in St Michael’s:

11.45am         Followed by the Minute’s silence at Noon – and the Tolling of the bell

3.45pm           Followed by the Tolling of the bell

7.45pm           At the time of what is called the “door step vigil” at 8pm – and the last Toll
