Aynho Long Walk 17th May 2018

Our new walk leader, Judith, led ten of us on this morning’s walk in lovely warm sunshine. Down the Portway Lane we had a good view of the brown deer herd as we continued down the hill and on towards Souldern. Before we reached the village we cut across the pasture fields on the path that emerges onto Wharf Lane. We paused to take in the view across to Aynho Park House. The Motorway was as noisy as ever but we soon reached the farmyard at the canal, and joined the towpath to enjoy the reflections from the water and the colourful narrow boats moored along both sides as we neared Aynho Wharf. We left the canal here and after passing over and under the railway lines we followed the path back under the motorway and through to Millers Lane. Along here we saw the white deer. on the last lap we enjoyed the colours in Little Lane. 6.1 miles.
