Summer Solstice by May Leng

Summer solstice

The longest day, the brightest song

I’ve come here through the longest night

Cold and frost have burnt me

Many storms have dried my soul

I have walked seven years

My shoes of iron are nigh worn out

I have swum seven rivers

The currents pulling me down

Seven flowers wreathe my brow

Keep me safe from ghosts and ghouls

There were trees in the deserts

Not many but just enough

I dance from night to day

As the dawn breaks

My breakdown becomes a breakthrough

To the summer solstice

The longest day, the brightest song.
