Historic Churches ‘Ride & Stride’ Saturday 8th September
Ride & Stride – either cycling, walking, riding or even in the car, through the wonderful Northamptonshire countryside or include other neighbouring counties, visiting as many churches as you like.
This annual event will soon be upon us as across the country a great many Churches will be visited by hundreds of cyclists and walkers raising money, through sponsorships, for the “Historic Churches Trust” which exists to help with Church Restoration and Repair projects by making Grants available. Over the years, all of our churches have benefitted from this organisation. And as always with historic buildings there is always ongoing work required. Last year “The Northamptonshire Historic Churches Trust” raised £34,423 through “Ride & Stride” plus £5490 in Gift Aid.
How much will you help us to raise this year?
We are looking for keen walkers & cycle riders who like to spend a day out or those who would like to welcome visitors to our church. You can be sponsored for church sitting as well as visiting. The Ride and Stride is open to anybody on any transport. Half the money goes to your nominated church and half to ‘Historic churches’ who then help churches in need.
We are inviting everybody to join in.
Why not join a group of walkers, where each “Walker” can nominate their own church to benefit. A circular route is planned which will take in Helmdon, Greatworth, Marston St. Lawrence, Thorpe Mandeville, Culworth, and Sulgrave, returning to Helmdon, and with a stop for lunch at The Red Lion in Culworth. The distance is about 12 miles across some lovely countryside, so should be a good day out. Come along, enjoy our magnificent countryside, good company and a jolly good lunch.
