Churchwarden’s Round-up

As you can see this is not the Rector’s Ramblings as we now wish Revd Simon and Heather all good wishes for 2019 in their new parish of Goldington near Bedford.

As we go to press the Newsletter front page announces that a new Rector of the Astwick Vale Benefice has been appointed and should be resident in the Rectory at Aynho well before Easter.  We are looking forward to welcoming Sue and her husband to our community.

Looking back on this year it truly has been a busy time for the church, not only with all the regular Festival services but with the extras we have hosted – the tremendous Big Band Concert; a concert by Claudia Myles (who a few weeks later was married in St Michael’s); our farewell to Simon and Heather and the wonderful two weeks of evening talks, organised and given by Andrew Bellamy, on those who lived in Aynho and lost their lives in World War I.

We must again thank James Perkins for allowing the church fete to take place in the grounds of Aynhoe Park House and Andrew Bellamy for managing and co-ordinating this major event.  We would also like to thank our Aynho community groups who set up displays for the Harvest festival. The church is very much part of Aynho and it is good to have such great community support.

Sadly in 2018 we have had to say goodbye to several  Aynho residents who spent many years in the community and contributed  in many ways, our thoughts and prayers are with their families.

May you all have an enjoyable and peaceful New Year however and wherever that may be.

God bless from all the church family at St Michael’s

Graham Gibbs, Churchwarden
