Recorded Music Society: December 2017 Meeting

At our pre Christmas gathering Lee let loose an avalanche of seasonal numbers, some 23 memorable recordings dating from the 50s. Andy Williams, Clayderman, Garland and Sinatra, Roy Orbison & Perry Como all continued our journey back to those forgotten Christmas’ of long ago. After our Christmas refreshments, The Andrew Sisters, Ray Coniff & Slim Whitman led to Eartha Kitt purring out “Santa Baby”, Fats Waller was “Swinging Them Jingle Bells” followed by Kings College Choral Soc. and Elvis Preasley.  The Royal Philharmonic with chorus rendered “Walking in the Air” Jimmy Bond & The Ronettes saw “Mommy kissing Santa Claus” then Percy Faith, Robert Shaw Chorale & Tammy Wynette led to the incomparable Mario Lanza with “O Holy Night”. Many thanks Lee for a wonderfully evocative programme.
