Newbottle & Charlton School Newsletter: July 2019

As we came to the last few weeks at school one might have hoped that the weather would have been  sunny and warm – alas, this was not the case and the rain meant many events were postponed and even cancelled.

Transition to Secondary school has begun and this year we are sending off 11 children from Primary into their next exciting adventure at Secondary School. This year the majority are going to Magdalen in Brackley but others are going to Sibford, Chenderit and Kings High.   All children have a transition
process whether it be moving key stage, class or maybe staying in the same class but different
children will be with them.  As a result, we ensure we have a transition day ‘Shuffle Up Day’ where
children can get an idea as to what September will be like!

Also we welcome new starters into Reception too. This year due to a large number of siblings and catchment children we have increased our Published Admission Number (PAN) from 15 to 20. This is a one off! These children have been into school a couple of times as well as Miss Dooley visiting them all in their Pre School setting – this we hope gives the children a smooth start to school, familiar with routines and faces!

In our last term we held an amazing mud run – the school field was transformed into an agility course with much water and great fun was had. This helps raise funds for the PTFA and was once again a tremendous success. Here are a few photos of the soggy event – made even more wet by the fact it rained most of the day!
