Recorded Music Society: May Meeting

Douglas presented a varied and enjoyable programme with the “Cello Concerto” by Shostakovich followed by some delightful singing by Hayley Westenra. “The Intermezzo” and “Alla Marcia” from the “Karelia Suite” by Sibelius and the “Serenade for Strings” by Tchaikovsky heralded the “Carnival of the Animals” by Saint-Saëns.   After our usual convivial break Douglas presented a DVD of Andre Rieu and Orchestra playing waltz and other delightful pieces set in the splendid gardens of Schönbrunn, Vienna.    Many thanks Douglas and also to our other presenters throughout our season.

June is our final programme and is down to Bob, let’s hope he can maintain the standard.
